The Dade County Wolverine football team finished off a fine season Friday night when they mauled the Coosa Eagles 47-6.

The Eagles came in as the fourth place team in their sub-region and the Wolverines held the fourth spot in their sub-region.
The Eagles had played a lot of close games this year but had come out on the short end of six of the nine games.
The Wolverines on the other hand had five wins to show for their efforts and narrowly missed the playoff.
The first quarter was mostly uneventful as the Wolverines got on the scoreboard on 33-yard field goals with 6:23 remaining by Tyler Powell.
The Wolverines would light up the scoreboard in the second quarter however as they blew the game open with 30 big points.
David Page got the scoring started when he blocked an Eagle punt and recovered it in the end zone for a Wolverine touchdown. The Powell kick made it 10-0 with 11:52 remaining in the first half.
At the 5:32 mark John Hampton bullied his way in from four yards out and the Powell kick made it 17-0.

The Wolverines got the ball one more time before the end of the first half and made the most of it as Michael Freeman got his second touchdown of the quarter, this time on a 65 yard run with: 27 seconds remaining in the half.
The Powell kick made it 33-0 Wolverines.
The third quarter was not well played by either team, as the lone score was a 41-yard touchdown run by the Eagles Coty Dodson. The two-point conversion try was no good and the Wolverine lead was 33-6.
The Wolverines got back on track in the fourth quarter as Tyler Wright scored on a 2 yard run and Powell’s kick made it 40-6. With just over four minutes remaining sophomore Andrew Blaylock scored from 19 yards out and Powell’s kick made it 47-6.

The highlight of the second half was when senior Brandon “Tank” Stevens carried the ball for a three-yard gain. The run by the big lineman was his only carry of the season and was cheered on by the entire Wolverine team.
The defense was lead by Andrew Blaylock with 6 solo tackles and 3 assists. Zac Gaddis had 5 solos and an assist while John Hampton had 2 solos and 4 assists.
Second year coach Bradley Warren was extremely pleased with the effort of this year’s Wolverine team who finished the season 6-4.
While losing several players to graduation this year the Wolverines have a good nucleolus of players returning making next season look very promising.
