Dade County Wolverine wrestler Pepe Calderon won the championship in the 285 lb. class during the Brett Warren Wrestling Tournament at Dade High School this past weekend. The Wolverine wrestlers took fourth place in the event.

The Dade County High School Wrestling Team hosted the Brett Warren Invitation Wrestling Tournament this past weekend.
Eleven teams participated in this year’s tournament. Sonoraville took the championship with 158 points and LaFayette was a close second finishing with 155 points. Gordon Lee finished third with 146 points and the Dade County Wolverines took fourth place with 150 points.
Other teams in the tournament included Heritage, Jackson County, Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe, Ringgold, Scottsboro, Southeast Whitfield and Trion.
The Wolverines’ Pepe Calderon won the championship in the 285 pound class.
Other Wolverines who placed were Blake West, 112, 2nd; Joey Tamburello, 119, 3rd; Hunter Davis, 125, 2nd; Josh Gilbert, 130, 4th; Caleb Massey, 135, 3rd; and Michael Knight 142nd.
The Wolverines faced East Ridge and Gordon Lee Dec. 15 and will participate in the Walnut Grove Invitational tournament this weekend.
