The Dade County Lady Wolverines opened play last week against the Ridgeland Lady Panthers renewing an old rivalry.
Both teams started slow with the Lady Wolverines leading at the end of the first quarter 10-6.
The action picked up in the second quarter as the Lady Wolverines rang up 15 points while holding the host Lady Panthers to only seven and building their lead to 25-13.
The second half was all Lady Wolverine as they dominated play and picked up their sixth win of the season.
Ansley Chilton led the Lady Wolverines with 14 points and Abby Bradford added 10, both girls are freshman.
On Friday night the Lady Wolverines host the Ider Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets was one of the better teams the Lady Wolverines have faced this season.
The Lady Wolverines scored first but then the Lady Hornets scored the next 8. The Lady Wolverines battled back and with 2:20 remaining in the first quarter Holly Gross scored to tie the game at 13-13.
The Lady Wolverines would take a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter 17-14.
The more experienced Lady Hornets took control early in the second quarter, scoring the first 11 points to go up 25-17.
The Lady Wolverines played hard but couldn’t overcome that run and trailed at the end of the first half 34-21
The Lady Wolverines only second quarter points came on four free throws.
The third quarter was much of the same for the Lady Wolverines as the Lady Hornets defense dominated play and helped build a 52-35 lead after three quarters.
When the final buzzer sounded the Lady Wolverines had suffered their fourth loss of the season by a score of 63-46.
Erika Woodfin led the Lady Wolverines with 22 points.
On Saturday night the Lady Wolverines traveled to North Sand Mountain to face a very good Lady Bison team.
It wasn’t a good night for the Lady Wolverines as the Lady Bison’s completely dominated play from the start.
At the end of the first quarter the Lady Wolverines found themselves trailing by 20, 26-6.
The second quarter didn’t get any better as the Lady Wolverines managed only 11 first half points, by far their lowest output of the season. The Lady Bison’s led 50-11 at the half.
The Lady Wolverines played better in the second half but the game was out of reach and the Lady Bison’s came away with a 74-29 win.
Ansley Chilton led the Lady Wolverines with 11 points.
The Lady Wolverines will be on Christmas break until a Jan. 2nd game at Ider.
On Jan. 5th they will be traveling to Temple before returning home for games against Rockmart and Ridgeland on Jan. 8th and 9th.
