VERA ADAMS

Vera G. Adams, 87, of Henagar, Ala., passed away Feb. 11 at her residence. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd ‘Bogue’ Adams.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Jane Adams, Rex and Mary Adams, all of Henagar, Ala.; brother, Buel Mays of Ider, Ala.; grandchildren, Andi Adams and Drew Freenam, Amy Adams, Alex Adams, April Lucas and Amber Rice; great-granddaughter, Alexis Lucas.

Funeral services were held Feb. 13 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Tim White officiating.

Interment was in Pea Ridge Cemetery.

DORIS BLACK

Doris Jean Black, 80, of Section, Ala., passed away Feb. 13.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Mamie Humphrey; son, Donnie Black; siblings, Ruby Jo Kelly, J.D. Humphrey, Ruth Norton and William Humphrey.

Survivors include her husband, Johnie Black of Section, Ala.; daughter and osn-in-law, Lanita and Lester Wooten of Macedonia, Ala.; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Cheryl Black of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Scott and Cynthia and Black of Henagar, Ala.; grandchildren, Amy Gant of Pisgah, Ala., Jason Wooten of Ider, Ala., Dustin Wooten of Arab, Ala., Crystal Clark of Stevenson, Ala., Daniel Black of Scottsboro, Ala., Kindyl Black of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Amber Black and Michael Black both of Henagar, Ala.; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Wallace, Julius, Carvin and Jerry Humphrey all of Gadsden, Ala. area; sisters, Vernie Blackburn, Hazel Bohannon, Peggy Peppers all of the Gadsden, Ala. area, Jimmie Dean McClure of Knoxville, Tenn., Faye McClure of Chattanooga.

Funeral services were held Feb. 15 in Rainsville Holiness Church with Bro. Charles Willmon, Bro. Loyd Smith, Bro. Raymond Smith, Bro. Jason Wooten and Bro. Michael Clark officiating.

Interment was in Old Sardis Cemetery.

DOYAL BLEVINS

Doyal Ray Blevins, 70, of Rosalie, Ala., passed away Feb. 7 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Campbell Blevins; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Gore of Ider, Ala., Brenda Underwood of Woodville, Ala., Lisa Whitfield of Chattanooga, Donna and Michael Wilson of Henagar, Ala.; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Betty Blevins of Ider, Ala.; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 9 in the Corner Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Kirkpatrick and Bro. Jerry Walden officiating.

Interment was in Rosalie Cemetery.

KRISTY COOTS

Kristy Smith Coots, 36, of Rainsville, Ala., passed away Feb. 9.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roland and Mildred Durham.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Coots of Rainsville, Ala.; sons, Tyler Davis of Henagar, Ala., Trey Coots and Cory Coots both of Rainsville, Ala., Adam Coots of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; daughters, Summer Davis of Rainsville, Ala., Nichole Coots of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; brothers, Scott Smith of Henagar, Ala., Jason Rummel of Atlanta; parents, Jimmy and Susan Smith Martha Durham Hughes all of Henagar, Ala.; grandparents, Nelson and Wilodean Smith of Henagar, Ala.; grandchild, Bailey Paige Cisco of Rainsville, Ala.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Watkins, Rev. Donnie Wilborn and Rev. Wayne Young officiating.

Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Fort Payne, Ala.

MILDRED DURHAM

Mildred Josephine Durham, 81, of Henagar, Ala., passed away Feb. 10 in Fort Payne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson Haynes Parker and Zula Jane Workman Parker; husband, Roland Durham; granddaughter, Kristy Coots.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Martha Durham of Ider, Ala., Patrick David Durham of Henagar, Ala.; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Jim Walker of Dallas, Mary and Levon Duncan of Flat Rock, Ala., Martha Durham Hughes of Henagar, Ala., Rhonda Kay and Jeff Watkins of Ider, Ala.; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Watson Williams and Rev. Jeff Watkins officiating.

Interment was in Sulpher Springs Cemetery.

SANDRA FULLINGTON

Sandra Lee Fullington, 58, of Trenton passed away Feb. 14. She was a cashier with Golden Gallon/Kangaroo markets in Tiftonia and Trenton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stanley; and mother, Elin Fullington.

Survivors include her father, Richard D. Fullingto of Trenton; sons, Robert “Bobby” Stanley of Dunlap, Tenn., Steve Stanley of Whitwell, Tenn.; grandchildren, Amanda, Brant, Chassity, Ashley and Lexxie Stanley; great-grandson, Braiden Stanley.

MARK LYNCH

William Mark Lynch, 45, of Trenton, passed away Feb. 17. He was a lifelong resident of Dade County, a 1982 graduate and outstanding athlete of Northwest Georgia High School, he was a member of Circle of Faith Christian Fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Lynch.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla Casey Lynch; son, Matthew Lynch; daughter, Nikki Lynch; parents, Jimmy and Patsy Lynch of Wildwood; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Karla Lynch of Wildwood; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Howell officiating.

Interment will follow in Sarah’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Feb. 18 and 19 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

VIRGINIA STEELE

Virginia Riddle Steele, 81, formerly of Newton, Ala. passed away Feb. 15 at North Fulton Regional Hospital. She was born on Aug. 1, 1927 in Rising Fawn to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Riddle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Edward Steele; and sister, Marie Riddle Smith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and David Trent of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Dewey Wayne and Vickie Steele of Rincon, Larry and Aleshia Steele of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Timothy A. Trent, Jennifer Trent Lawton, Michelle Renee Steele, Ralyn Daniels Bullock, Zachary R. Daniels, Wesley R. Daniels; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Wallin, Barbara Smith; brothers, Bill Riddle and Ernie Riddle.

Funeral services will be held Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Mitchell Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Feb. 20 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

NELLIE UPTAIN

Nellie V. Uptain, 82, of Hixson, Tenn,. passed away Feb. 6. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dutto; friend, George Goodson; sister, Audrey Moore; brothers, Lubie, Clarance, Freddie, William Mann, and Clifford Uptain; parents, Wallace and Ada Uptain.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Wilkins of Bryant, Ala.; son, Charles Dutto of Ringgold; brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Sally Uptain of Hixson, Tenn.; sisters and brother-in-law, Lessie McClendon of Scottsboro, Ala., Faye Floyd of Red Bank, Tenn., Cile and Paul Phillips of Hixson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Courtney and Peter Hammett, Christopher Wilkins, Amanda and Michael Yell, Shawn Dutto; great-grandchildren, Colbie, Hailey, Tori and Rhett; seventeen nieces and twelve nephews.

A private memorial service will be held Feb. 21 at the graveside at Asbury Community Cemetery near Albertville, Ala.

MARGARET WEST

Margaret H. Capley West, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away Feb. 12 in a local hospital. She was retired from Lee Manufacturing in Stevenson, Ala.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph L. and Malisa Gilbreath, David B. and Sheila West; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela C. and John Flynn; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard H. and Evelyn Capley; sister, Shirley J. Broome; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Feb. 15 in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Ellison officiating.

Interment was in Payne Gap Cemetery.
