Early Voting Is Underway
Dade County residents can cast their General Election ballots now through Nov. 2 during Georgia’s early voting period.
Polls are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., except from noon until 1 p.m. when poll workers will break for lunch. Polls will remain open during lunch the final week of voting.
Votes can also be cast on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Early voting is being conducted in the Commission meeting room of the Dade County Administrative Building.
The General Election is Nov. 6 and polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Book Sale Continues
Prices have been slashed at the Dade County Public Library’s book sale. With quite a few books left from last week, organizers have marked everything down to half- price. Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks 50 or 25 cents. The staff invites you: “Come and get some bargains!”
Meanwhile, Dade’s is not the only library in the Cherokee Regional System with financial woes. After cuts from the Walker County Board of Education and the city of Rossville, the Rossville branch also needs to raise funds to stay open. The 82-piece Mid-South Concert Band will perform a benefit concert this Thursday night at the Walker County Civic Center. Admission is $10, with children under 12 attending free. Tickets may be purchased at the Dade County Library.
And on Nov. 5, the Trenton McDonald’s is hosting a Library Night, with 25 percent of the evening’s proceeds to benefit Dade’s library. The Friends of the Dade County Library urge everyone to have supper at McDonald’s between 4 and 7 p.m. The group is also looking for volunteers to be greeters. Inquire at the library for details, or visit the Friends’ Facebook page.
