Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

By: Ted Camp, Silent Word Ministries

Have you ever seen the battery commercial where the cute little bunny is walking and beating a drum, and the announcer says “still going!” On he goes, across the desert, over mountains, on lonely highways, down dirt roads but he is “still going and going!” Nothing seems to stop the little bunny.

Now, the point of the commercial is not the bunny, but the battery and the power source. It seems everyone knows about the bunny but not the batteries.

Do you know the brand name of the battery? It is Energizer, but I still don’t know who makes it. It’s important to have good batteries so you can keep “going and going.” Cars with weak batteries have starting problems.

Tape recorders with weak batteries will drag. Flashlights with weak batteries will go dim, pocket radios with weak batteries will fade, and your cordless and cell phones with weak batteries will be full of static and eventually disconnect.

Why?….because of a weak or bad battery. But even a good battery is only half the solution. I have learned that sometimes the battery may be good but you could have a bad connection. Bad wires disconnect you from the power source. Even the Energizer bunny cannot keep “going and going” with a bad connection.

As a mechanic told me, “You have a good battery, but your cables are bad.” That day I learned a spiritual lesson to make sure my cables were connected to the power source. When you have a good connection, the power will flow to bring needed results.

Once, I tricked Debbie Snare, a deaf woman, as she was vacuuming at the office. I unplugged the vacuum cord. Because she was deaf, she never knew it. She just continued to vacuum and vacuum without any results. I smiled and then showed her the disconnected cord.

It is sad that some Christians go through the motions of reading their Bibles, going to church, and praying but remain unplugged to the real power source.

The Lord says, “For without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). Nothing means zero, zilch, nada, no-thing, and zippo. When you are connected to the Lord, you and also others will know it. I personally know when I am connected and when I am disconnected. When I am connected, “I can do all things through Christ (power source) which strengtheneth (enables) me” (Philippians 4:13).

Also when you are connected to the Lord, you will know it because your light will shine brighter, you will have peace and joy in your heart, you will be excited, and you will loudly beat your drum to glorify Him.

As the bunny you will be a consistent Christian who “keep going, going and going” no matter what happens.
