The Dade County
Lions Club’s annual Supermarket Sweep was last Saturday at Ingles Supermarket
and this year’s beneficiary was the Tri-State Food Bank.
The fundraiser
sponsored by the Lions Club generates funds for club activities.
Joan Kenimer,
representing the Food Bank, had five minutes to gather all the groceries she
could and came away with $932.15 worth for her efforts. All the 387 items she
was able to get were all things the food bank doesn’t normally get through
their regular sources.
A number of
Lions Club members as well as friends were there to cheer Kenimer on during the
shopping spree.
The Club sold
204 tickets this year for a total of $1,020.00.
All the money
the local Lions Club makes stays local and provides eye exams and glasses for
the less fortunate.
If you would
like to make a donation to the Lions Club they can be made at Alfa Insurance,
Guthrie’s, Thatcher’s and Discount Flooring in Trenton.
