The return to
the hardwood after Christmas break wasn’t kind to the Lady Wolverines last week
when they traveled to Calhoun to face the Lady Yellow Jackets.
It started out
as a promising return as the Lady Wolverines took the early lead.
At the end of
the first quarter the Lady Wolverines they were on top 11-9.
Things got a
lot better for Dade in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Yellow
Jackets 12-5 to take a 23-14 lead at the end of the half.
However, the
second half was an entirely different game.
The Lady
Wolverines, recovering from several illnesses over the holidays seemed to run
out of gas in the second half as Calhoun rallied from behind.
By the end of
the third quarter Calhoun had taken the lead, 30-29.
Dade couldn’t
buy a basket in the fourth quarter, scoring only one point while the Lady
Yellow Jackets pulled away for a 40-30 win.
The loss
dropped the Lady Wolverines to 1-2 in region play.
Lauren Breeden
led the Lady Wolverine scoring with 9 points followed by Ansley Chilton with 7
while Sarah Reid and Haley Gass scored 5 each.
