Property Tax Auction

The Dade County Tax Commissioner’s Office has listed property that will be sold on Feb. 5 due to unpaid property taxes.

Anyone wishing to bid on the property must register with the tax office and obtain a bidder number. All that is needed for a bidder number is your name, address and telephone number.

Free Library Happenings

The Dade County Library Board of Trustees will meet at the library at 4 p.m. on Jan. 17.

The Friends of the Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 24, also at the library.  Friends leadership says this is an important meeting at which funding options and the series of the library will be discussed.

For library patrons in general, there will be free library account management seminars on Jan. 22 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Readers may learn how to renew items online, put books on hold, start “book bags” for future reading and download e-books for free.  Each class will last about 30 minutes.

Jan. 22 is also family movie night at the library this month:  The animated movie Brave will be shown at 5 p.m., and admission is free. 

Free Sign Language Class

Silent Word Ministries is sponsoring a free sign language class Jan. 21-25.

The class meets from 6:30–9 p.m., Monday through Friday at SWM, 6250 Hwy 136 East, near Dade High School.

Students will learn basic sign language vocabulary. There is a $5 materials fee.

All ages are welcome but children ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
