Vandals struck
Trenton United Methodist Church sometime during the night of Dec. 29th and did
an estimated $5,000 to $6,000 in damages.
Trenton Police
Investigator Shawn Chapa stated they received a call around 7 a.m. on Sunday
morning Dec. 30 in reference to the vandalism. It was believed the incident
occurred between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. Church personnel
found the vandalism when they arrived to turn on the heat for Sunday services.
“A member of
the church gave us information that led to warrants being issued for two
individuals. One of those, Zachary Tyler Talley, 18, of Rising Fawn is
currently in custody,” Chapa stated.
The other
individual, Cameron Blake McKenzie, 18, of Stevenson, Ala., had not been
located at press time but was expected to be picked up soon according to Chapa.
The vandalism
was restricted to classrooms and kitchen area of the old church building. Doors
were kicked in, chairs, TV’s and other items were broken and some items were
missing.
Some prior
vandalism had occurred in the new building recently but officials haven’t tied
the two incidents together.
