The Dade County
Lady Wolverine basketball team played a pair of region games last week and came
away with big wins.
On Tuesday
night the Lady Wolverines hosted the Chattooga Lady Indians and put an end to
any hopes the visitors had of victory early in the game.
The Lady
Wolverines burned the nets for 26 first quarter points to take a commanding
26-7 lead and never looked back.
By the end of
the first half the Lady Wolverines were up 43-20.
The second half
was no different as the Lady Wolverines outscored the visitors 15-13 in the
third quarter and 12-7 in the fourth as Coach Randy Watson got everyone in on
the action.
The 70-40 win
improved the Lady Wolverines region record to 3-2.
Erika Woodfin
led the Lady Wolverines with 21 points and Tori Gass added 14 with each hitting
four three point shots.

more competitive game for the Lady Wolverines, especially for the first three
quarters.
The Lady
Wolverines ended the first quarter up one, 14-13.
The second
quarter was much the same as the two teams traded baskets and at the end of the
first half the Lady Wolverines held a slim 27-24 lead.
The third
quarter offered much of the same as both teams scored 13 points and the Lady
Wolverines were up 40-37 heading into the final eight minutes.
The Lady
Wolverines found their range in the fourth quarter and scored 23 points to pull
away from the host Lady Dragons and claim a big 63-47 road win.
Woodfin again
led the Lady Wolverines with 24 points, hitting 4 three point shots in the
process. Ansley Chilton scored 15 and Abby Bradford scored eight.
This week the
Lady Wolverines have a pair of region games at home against Coosa on Tuesday
and Calhoun on Friday.
Friday night’s
game against the Lady Yellow Jackets of Calhoun is a key region game. The
Yellow Jackets are currently atop the region standings with a 5-0 mark while
the Lady Wolverines are currently third with a 4-2 mark.
Also on Friday
night the State Championship banner for the Lady Wolverine softball team will
be presented at halftime of the Wolverines game.
