The Dade County Wolverine baseball team has had a hard time with Mother Nature this season as cold, wet weather not only has played havoc with the schedule but time on the field has been hard to come by as well.

So far this season the Wolverines have only been able to practice on the field a few times and even then the field has been wet.

Last week the Wolverines managed to get in one game, after rescheduling it for later in the week, they traveled to Ridgeland to face the Panthers for the second time this season.

The Wolverines were hoping to avenge an earlier loss and took the early lead on the Panthers 1-0 in the second inning.

Garrett Moore led off the inning with a single, Luke Riddle was walked and Blake Lynn sacrificed to put runners at second and third with one out.

Tanner Faircloth picked up an RBI on a ground out to put the Wolverines up 1-0.

The Panthers rallied back in the bottom of the second however when they picked up a pair of hits and a couple of walks to score three runs to take the lead 3-1.

It would remain that way until the fourth when the host Panthers scored seven big runs on only one hit as the Wolverine pitchers gave up four walks and hit a pair of batters to give Ridgeland a 10-1 lead.

The Panthers added another run in the fifth inning to claim an 11-1 win.

The Wolverines only gave up five hits in the game but 13 walks, two hit batters and two errors proved to be their downfall.

Moore and Faircloth had the only Wolverine hits.

The Wolverines were scheduled to host Lakeview/Ft. Oglethorpe on Tuesday but the game has been rescheduled for Monday at 6 p.m., weather permitting.

On Thursday the Wolverines have picked up a game against Section, Ala., at home. Game time is 6 p.m.

Region play starts next week when the Wolverines travel to Calhoun on the Tuesday. With region play getting underway and all the makeup games to play the next few weeks will be very busy for the Wolverine team.
