Dorothy June Abercrombie, 84, of Cloudland, passed away May 2. She was a native of Ringgold. She was formerly employed by Tennessee Georgia Memorial Gardens in Rossville, a church pianist and member of Modern Woodmen and White Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Lee Abercrombie; son, James Levoy Abercrombie; sister, Bivian Perkins and daughter in law, Jane Cope Abercrombie.

Survivors include her son, Carl Abercrombie and special friend, Cathy Davis.

Funeral services were May 4 in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Atkins and Brother Terry Trivett officiating. Burial was in Hannah Cemetery.

Robert Lee “Red” Blevins, 69, of Rising Fawn, passed away, April 30. He was a farmer and formerly employed at Mississippi Valley Steel of Chattanooga. Mr. Blevins was a member of Trenton United Methodist Church. He loved his horses and buggy.

Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Eleanor Henegar Blevins; brothers, J.B. Blevins, F.M. Blevins and Earl Blevins, Jr.; sister, Peggy Sewell.

Survivors include his wife, Laura “Lardy” Blevins, Rising Fawn; daughters, Tammy Daugherty, Trenton, April Blevins, Rising Fawn, Kelly (Channing) Grimes, Rising Fawn, Carmen Lunsford, Rising Fawn and Brenda Eubanks, Rising Fawn; sons, David Blevins, Trenton, and Scotty Blevins, Rising Fawn; sisters, Edna Riddle and Mary Lou Rains, both of Rising Fawn; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was May 6 with Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating.

Hazel Tinker Christopher, 90, of Trenton, passed away May 4.  She was born June 17, 1922 in Jackson County, Ala.  She was retired from Cobble Muse Hosiery Mill and a member of New Home Church of God.

Mrs. Christopher was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Willie Christopher, three brothers, J.C., Brady and Grady Tinker; sister, Pauline Prince.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Lynn) Rowe, Pam Reeves and Kim (Rodney) McGill; grandchildren Josh Reeves, Chancie Bain, Jennifer (Craig) Taylor and Aaron McGill; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Sawyer Bain and Hazel Grace Taylor; sister, Melba Warren; brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) Tinker and Cecil (Joyce) Tinker; nephew, Mike (Marie) Tinker; several nieces and nephews and beloved friend and caregiver Benita Long.

A celebration of her life was May 7 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home. Interment was in Shantytown Cemetery.

Lena Inez Gant, 88, of Henagar, Ala., passed away May 2 at Erlanger Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Leonard Gant; father, Harrison Whitfield; mother, Asalee Day Whitfield; daughter-in-law, Doris Gant; sister, Betty Garrett.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Sandra Gant of Rainsville, Ala., James and Poly Gant of Rosalie, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ronnie Jones of Bryant, Ala.; sister, Elaine Jenkins of Fort Payne, Ala.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 5 at New Home Baptist Church in Pisgah, Ala.

Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

Joe Hansard Holcomb, 49, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away May 3 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doc Holcomb; son, Joe Holcomb, Jr.; brother, Arlane Holcomb; sisters, Geraldine Frazier and Betty Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife, Alta Holcomb of Flat Rock, Ala.; mother, Mildred Holcomb of Flat Rock, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Joey Holcomb and Sara Young of Rainsville, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Centers of Henagar, Ala.; brothers, Bud Holcomb, Randall Holcomb, Larry Holcomb and Ricky Holcomb; sisters, Gertrude York, Nina Harris; grandchildren, Rebekka Terrell, Andre Terrell, Alyssa Terrell and Brianna Terrell.

Graveside services will be in Deer Head Cove Cemetery at Cartersville, Ala.

Charles A. Morgan, 75, of Rising Fawn, passed away May 4. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Morgan loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lexie Morgan, and brother, Arland “Mutt” Morgan.

Survivors include his son, Billy Joe Morgan, 29 Palms, Calif.; sisters, Lula McGuire, Lake Forest, Calif., Bonnie Stuckey, Henagar, Ala., Emma McDonald, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Betty Hayner, Wildomar, Calif.; brothers, Laurence Morgan, Rossville, Henry Morgan, Trenton and Billy Joe Morgan, Sylvania, Ala.; grandchildren, Roger Toliver and Myrah Carson; great-grandchildren, Sean and Penelope Carson; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Morgan will be held at a later date.

Lewis D. Stevens, 89, of Trenton, passed away April 30. He was retired from Brock Candy Company and was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Stevens; daughters, Lucille and Beatrice Stevens; parents, George W. and Dolly D. Stephens; brothers, Edgar, G.B. and Bobby; sisters, Melon, Isabelle, Babe, Pearl and Minnie; several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of three years, Shirley Stevens; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Carol Stevens of Kihei, HI; daughters and son-in-law, Esta Ingram of Chattanooga, Linda and Dean Sims of Trenton; grandsons and their spouses, Bart and Christa Sims of Evansville, Ind., Ian and Adriana Stevens of Kihei, HI, Brian and Rachael Sims of Trenton; granddaughter, Rebecca Ingram of Chattanooga; three great-grandchildren; step sons and their spouses, Johnny and Dianna Gray, Rickey and Jody Gray all of Trenton; seven step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held May 4 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Al Johnson officiating.

Interment was in Gibdock Cemetery.

Webb Gay Thornhill, 76, of Rosalie, Ala., passed away May 1 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Kelli Benson; parents, Webb and Lena White Thornhill; brothers, Harvey Thornhill and James Thornhill.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Thornhill of Rosalie, Ala.; daughters and sons-in-law, Merry and James Benson of Rosalie, Ala., Cherie and Skyler Ramage of Stevenson, Ala.; brother, Horace Thornhill of Rosalie, Ala.; sister, Bettye Bass of Rosalie, Ala.; grandchildren, Blake Shrader of Jacksonville, Ala., Ty Shrader of West Point, NY, Alena Benson of Rosalie, Ala. and Emarald Rammage of Flat Rock, Ala.

Funeral services were May 4 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Smith and Rev. Rick Freeman officiating.

Interment was in Rosalie Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Jackson County Relay for Life.
