The Lady Wolverines came out swinging against Ringgold Saturday in the opening game of the 2013 season. Dade defeated the Lady Tigers 6-2. Sophomore slapper Ali Birchfield went 1-3 and scored a run for Dade.

The Dade County
High School Lady Wolverine softball team opened the 2013 season with a play day
on Saturday against AAA power and 2012 state runner up Ringgold High School.
Wolverines claimed the AA state title last season and opened defense of that
title with all but one member in last year’s lineup back.
Madison Gossett leads the Lady Wolverines and she didn’t disappoint in the
opening game of the season. Facing a strong Lady Tiger team Gossett had 12
strikeouts and only gave up two runs.
Wolverines got off to a slow start after the two teams each scored a run in the

of the double header was canceled due to weather.
Wolverines have a big week coming up, as they will be playing in the Lakeview
Fort Oglethorpe Tournament with games at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and
Saturday games at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. All the Lady Wolverine games will
be played at the Jack Mattox complex in Ringgold.
