Why it is often
said, In spite of the fact we Americans are some of the most blessed in the
world we are some of the unhappy people? How is that possible? Maybe the old
country song has it right when its theme is, “we are looking for all the right
things in all the wrong places.”
When some of us
were students at Chandler School of Theology back in 1962 we asked one of our
professors who seemed to be very happy, what your faith has given you that
makes you so content with life and with us students?
I heard in my
youth that we human beings, including you and me, that we are very valuable to
our Heavenly Father. When Jesus’ disciples asked of him,” teach us to pray as

“Our Father who art in Heaven.” He went on to teach a simple prayer Matthew
7:11 – You do not consider yourself to be perfect fathers or mothers, yet you
know how to give good gifts to your children.
Think how much
more your Father in heaven delights in giving good things to you when you ask
Is it helpful
to be aware that you are important to God? He delights in you.
