Josh Dobson, a
partner in the Southern Group, the developer of the Preserve at Rising Fawn,
and Paul Gott III, a loan facilitator who helped Dobson and his partners
arrange whopping bank mortgages on Preserve lots, were tried in April on
federal wire fraud and money laundering charges and found guilty on seven of 12
reviewing motions filed during the trial by lawyers for the defendants, Judge
Curtis Collier threw out another of those charges. Dobson and Gott, left free
until sentencing, were to have gone back before the judge for that phase of
proceedings on Oct. 10.
attorneys hired by Dobson for the sentencing phase requested and were granted a
postponement to facilitate their obtaining and reviewing the estimated
1,200-page transcript of the two-week trial.
sentencing date is Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. in Judge Collier’s Eastern District of
Tennessee Court in Chattanooga.
