Seniors will be recognized at Wednesday's
final home game of regular season play.
The Dade County
Lady Wolverine softball team picked up a pair of region wins last week and are
currently tied with Armuchee for second place in Region 7AA.
season ends this week with a pair of games and a finish of a game that was
called due to darkness at Armuchee last week with the game tied 1-1. Dade
completed the game Tuesday. Details will be in next week’s Sentinel.
The Region 7AA
tournament gets underway Saturday at Alto Park in Rome with the top four teams
advancing to the state tournament.
Last week the
Lady Wolverines hosted Chattooga in a key game. The Lady Indians are one of the
better teams in the region and came ready to challenge the Lady Wolverines.
The game was
scoreless heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Wolverine
bats came to life.
A one out walk
to Carly Stephens got things started and a single by Madison Gossett set up the
first run of the game Macayla Ginn picked up an RBI on a fielder’s choice.
reached on an error scoring another run and Morgan Lacy then hit a home run to
right field for two more runs giving the Lady Wolverines a 4-0 lead.
Wolverines picked up two more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by
Gossett and Keesler.
Lady Indians would get their only run of the game in the sixth inning with the
Lady Wolverines picking up the win 6-1.
Gossett had a pair of hits each and Morgan Lacy had the two RBI home run.
Gossett picked up the win recording 12 strikeouts.
Wolverines hosted the Pepperell Lady Dragons on Thursday.
Dragons scored in the top of the first inning to take a short lived lead as the
Lady Wolverines responded in the bottom of the first with seven runs on six
Wolverines scored three more runs in the second inning and two in the third to
build a 12-1 lead.
The game was
called in the fifth inning on the mercy rule with the Lady Wolverines up 12-1.

This week the
Lady Wolverines finish off the regular season of play. They traveled to Model
on Monday and will host Coosa’s Lady Eagles today. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m.
will also be Senior Night for the 10 Lady Wolverines who will graduate this
year. Come out and show your support for the Lady Wolverines in their final
regular season home game and help honor this outstanding group of seniors.
