Garrett Sharp intercepts a Dragon pass in the end zone during the
first overtime period Friday night. The Wolverines went on to win the
game 13-7 in double overtime. This marked only the second time the
Wolverines have beaten the Pepperell Dragons.
Tim “Magic” Morgan led the team through the run through on Friday
night before the Pepperell game. Morgan a 1991 graduate of Northwest
Georgia High School has been a regular on the sideline and during
practice for the Wolverines for many years. His hard work and dedication to the team is appreciated by everyone.

The Dade County
Wolverine football team dominated play for most of Friday night’s game against
the Pepperell Dragons but didn’t secure the win until the second overtime ended
with a big fourth down stop by the defense.
The first half
was filled with mistakes as both team had trouble moving the ball. The
Wolverines were their own worst enemy on several occasions.
Getting a drive
started was easy but taking advantage became a challenge as penalties and
fumbles kept putting a stop to Dade’s momentum.
Just before the
end of the first half a bad snap on a punt by the Wolverines put the Dragons in
business at the 27–yard line.
It took the
visitors just one play to take advantage of the mistake and score the games
first points on a Demarcus Hight 27 yard touchdown run. Jamie Kelley kicked the
extra point and the visiting Dragons were on top 7-0.
The first half
ended with Pepperell on top but both teams had struggled to put a drive

Aaron Shepard kick tied the game 7-7.

Late in the
fourth quarter a Wolverine touchdown was called back on a holding penalty. The
Wolverines still moved the ball to the Dragon’s 4-yard line and on fourth down
decided to try a field goal. The kick was no good and time ran out with the
game tied 7-7.
In the first
overtime period Pepperell got the ball first at the Dade 15 yard line. That
drive came to an end when Garrett Sharp intercepted a Dragon pass in the end
then got the ball at the 15-yard line but were unable to score as well and the
game went to the second overtime.
This time Dade
got the ball first and after picking up a first down Swader found the end zone
for the second time from three yards out to put the Wolverines up 13-7. The
kick for the extra point was no good.

yard line the Wolverine defense rose to the occasion and stopped the Dragons
just short of the first down and claimed the hard fought win 13-7.
Swader led the
Wolverine offense with two touchdowns and 73 yards rushing on 15 carries. Zac
Freeman gained 63 yards on 11 carries and Blake Lynn had 46 yards on 13
carries. Aaron Williams also gained 46 yards on nine carries.

Pickering and Roy McMahan who recorded nine tackles and one assist each with
McMahan having six tackles for a loss led the Wolverine defense. Teddy Cole
recorded eight tackles, two for a loss and Garrett Moore six tackles, and three
for a loss and three assists and Chris Leverett recorded six tackles.
