My name is
Terry Powell and I am currently holding the position of Parks and
Recreation/Animal Control Commissioner for the city of Trenton. I was
unanimously appointed to fill this position in February of this year.
I have been a
city resident for 36 years and a resident of Dade County for 57 years. I am
married to Phyllis Powell of Trenton and have one son, Ty Powell, who is a
senior at Berea College.
I have coached,
managed and been involved with many athletic programs in Dade County over the
past 37 years. Having grown up in Dade County, I have a deep respect for the
people of this community and know the importance of getting things accomplished
as a commissioner. I feel every person should be treated with respect.
as your commissioner, I will work hard and hold this position with integrity,
honesty and fairness to everyone. Since I was appointed to this position in
February, many improvements have been accomplished. New playground equipment
has been purchased and will be installed in the coming weeks. New mulch has
been added to the playground. All broken playground equipment and playground
benches have been replaced with new.
and benches around the pool have been approved and will be installed before the
upcoming pool season. A handicap lift in ADA compliance has been approved to
help handicapped and senior citizens to enter and exit the pool. New picnic
tables and benches have been purchased for the picnic area across the bridge
and are waiting to be delivered.
Paving of the
parking lot will begin in the next few weeks. This will include more parking
with additional handicap parking. Improvements will be made to the ball fields
to help with the draining of the fields. We are looking at improvements that
need to be made to the existing animal shelter.
With your vote
and support on Nov. 5, I look forward to continue serving as Parks and
Recreation/Animal Control Commissioner for the City of Trenton.
