The Wolverines’ Blake Lynn breaks a tackle on his way to the end zone
Friday night against Armuchee. The Wolverines won the region game
42-7 and are currently fighting for a playoff spot. This week they
host Murray County and it will be Homecoming for the Wolverines. Game
time is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Dade County
High School football team traveled to Armuchee on Friday to face the Indians in
a key Region 7AA game. With playoff spots up in the air this was a big game for
The two teams
played a scoreless first quarter as they exchanged punts and neither team
showed much offense.
for the Wolverines in the second quarter when quarterback Houston Poston threw
to Mikey Williams for an 83–yard touchdown. Williams made a great catch on the
ball, going over the defender to make the catch and then running untouched to
the end zone.
Shepard extra point was good and Dade was up 7-0.
With just over
three minutes left in the first half the Wolverines found the end zone again,
this time on a Brett Swader 28 yard run. The Shepard PAT put the Wolverines on

Early in the
second half Poston and Williams hooked up again, this time on a 51–yard
touchdown and Shepard’s kick put the Wolverines on top 21-0.
found the end zone when a defensive mix-up left Scott Reynolds wide open and
Indian quarterback Colton Stamey threw a 68–yard touchdown pass. Caleb Farmer
kicked the extra point to cut the Wolverine lead to 21-7.
In the fourth
quarter, with just over six minutes remaining Teddy Cole picked off an Indian
pass and ran untouched for an eight–yard touchdown. Shepard’s kick put the
Wolverines on top 28-7.
Blake Lynn got
in on the scoring action late in the fourth quarter when he ran over several
Indian defenders on his way to a 16–yard touchdown. Shepard was true again and
it was 35-7.
With under a
minute left in the game and both teams substituting, Jake Adams went around
right end for a 74–yard touchdown run and the PAT made it 42-7.
This was one of
the Wolverines best efforts of the season as they held the Indians to 105 yards
total offense, 68 of which came on one play. The Wolverines only gave up 22
rushing yards on 19 carries.
Wolverine offense was rolling up some impressive numbers with Poston completing
six of nine passes for 171 yards. Williams had four receptions for 143 of those
yards and two touchdowns.
Swader led the
ground game with 79 yards on 19 carries and Blake Lynn had 44 yards on nine
carries. Both scored a touchdown. Adams had one carry for 74 yards and a
