Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

By: Ted Camp, Silent Word Ministries

Every day there are decisions and choices you must make. These decisions can determine your directions in life. This “freewill” principle began with Adam. The Lord said, “Of every tree...thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it...in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17).

Adam ate of the fruit and it brought the sin curse upon all mankind (Romans 5:12). The power of choice began with Adam and continues with you. One of the greatest powers you possess is the power of choice. Not even God will force you against your will. Decisions Determine Directions – Directions Determine Destinations. Have you looked back at your choices and said, “What if I had only.....?”

What if... Adam had not sinned... Cain had offered a lamb... King Saul had followed God.. Jezebel had turned from Baal to God... Samson had ignored Delilah... Achan had obeyed God… Ananias and Sapphira had not been greedy... Demas had not forsaken Paul … the rich man had died as Lazarus (Luke 16:23) ...What if you had not been saved?

What if... God had said, I don’t do creations.” Noah had said, “I don’t do boats!” Moses had said, “I don’t do Laws.” David had said, “I don’t do giants.” Joshua had said, “I don’t do walls.” Joseph had said, “I don’t do forgiveness.” Peter had said, “I don’t do Pentecosts.” Paul had said, “I don’t do Gentiles.” John had said, “I don’t do revelations.” Mary had said, “I don’t do virgin births.” The Lord had said, “I don’t do crosses.”

“What if....” Has affected many. Choices can bring comfort or consequences. Some say, “If only I had not...” or others say, “What if I had only...” If you don’t like the way you are, you can change. You cannot change others, but you can change yourself. I have learned that you cannot help anyone unless they want help. One man said, “After all these years, I changed because it was the first time I wanted to change.”

What choices have you made? Do you have regrets? Well, it is not too late to change. This day you can change your life. You have the power of choice to receive or reject Christ. You have the choice to serve or to sin. God cannot make you serve, and the Devil cannot make you sin. Your life is a series of choices either good or bad. The end of sin choices always ends in regrets. “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death (destruction)” (James 1:15).

Have you made some bad choices? Do you now want to change? You cannot change the past, but you can change the future. Even the prodigal son in the hog pen came to his senses and decided to return to his father. His father welcomed him home and gave him a ring, robe, and feast. As the prodigal son, you simply need to make the choice to arise and return to your Heavenly Father (Luke 15:11-32).

What if he had not returned? “What if you returned?” Wonder what the Lord has waiting for you? You can make the days ahead the best you have ever known. “What if you do not?” You can control the choices, but not the consequences. You can rejoice or have regrets! “What if...” Think about it! It is your choice!
