The Dade County Wolverine basketball team opened up regular season play Friday night at home against North Jackson.

The Wolverines fell behind early as the visitors from Stevenson, Ala., built an early 4-0 lead.

It took Dade almost three minutes to score their first points of the game but once they did it was off to the races.

Taking their first lead of the game at 13-11 with 1:51 remaining in the first quarter the Wolverines never looked back from there and lead 20-16 at the end of the quarter.

North Jackson held their own in the second quarter and only trailed by eight points at the end of the first half, 38-30.

It was lights out for the Wolverines in the third quarter as they held North Jackson to eight points while scoring an incredible 43 points themselves in just eight minutes.

The mercy rule came into effect in the fourth quarter with only six minutes on the clock and Dade got everyone in the game and coasted to their first win of the year, 93-51.

Clynt Bell led all scorers with 33 points including six three point shots. Nic Gaddis scored 15 and Mikey Williams added 10. Nick Chitwood grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wolverines and Brady Mai had eight rebounds as did Mikey Williams. Bell had seven steals.

This week the Wolverines hosted Ridgeland on Tuesday night and will travel on Saturday to Morris Innovative before hosting Murray County on Dec. 3.
