The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team opened the 2013-14 seasons Friday night when they hosted North Jackson.

The Lady Wolverines got off to a slow start, only scoring four first quarter points and falling behind 10-4.

That would change in the second quarter, as Dade seemed to settle down and play their kind of basketball.

Trailing 13-5 with 6:45 to go in the first half the Lady Wolverines scored 11 straight points to take a 16-13 lead with 1:33 remaining in the first half.

After the slow start Dade was up 17-15 at the end of the first half.

The Lady Wolverines continued to improve in the second half as they scored the first 10 points to increase their lead to 27-15.

Dade’s defense stepped up its game and held the visitors from Stevenson, Ala., to just five points in the second and third quarters.

The Lady Wolverines continued to outplay the visitors and came away with an easy 49-31 win to open the season.

Sarah Reid led the Lady Wolverines with 19 points. Tori Gass scored 14, hitting three, three point shots.

This week the Lady Wolverines will travel to Southeast Whitfield on Saturday before returning home Dec. 3rd to host Murray County.
