Carrie Elizabeth “Betty” Farr, 83, of Trenton, passed away Nov. 17, 2013. She was born June 17, 1930, in Demopolis, Ala. She was the daughter of W.E. and Lula Ellen Gandy. Betty was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors and Alabama Power Energizers. She worked at Dixie Kreme, Chattanooga Bakery, and Krispy Kreme. She was also a member of Trenton First Baptist Church and of the O.E.S. Chapter, Trenton.

She was preceded in death by sister, Mary Frances Mason of Mobile, Ala., and Amanda P. “Steve” Stephens.

She is survived by her husband, John “Johnny” W. Farr, Jr. whom she married May 16, 1977; son, Andy Stephens of Red Bank, Tenn.; stepson, Tommy Farr, his wife and grandson, Jamison Farr of Douglasville; stepdaughter, Jil Farr and son, Tory Nix of Brunswick; great–grandson; godchild; Brooke Womack of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; sisters Martha Lois Hill of Belmont, Ala., and Bertha Ellen Snyder of Birmingham, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 20 with Rev. Eddie Cantrell and Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Era Jean Phillips, 66, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Guild, Tenn., passed away Nov. 18, 2013. She was retired from DM Stewart of Chattanooga with over 30 years of service. She was of the Holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Christine Cabe and brother, Ronald Graham.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Blanks, Chattanooga; son, Charles (Melissa) Stone, Rossville; stepdaughters, Stacey Phillips, Carrie Phillips and Suzette Phillips, all of Henagar, Ala.; stepson, Jeffery Phillips, Bryant, Ala.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Jere Burnette, Rossville; Glenda Waddell, Chattanooga; brother, Charles Cabe of Washington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 22 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Edward Atchley officiating. Interment was in Head Springs Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.
