Thanksgiving Dinner

Morganville United Methodist Church is invited everyone to its annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday from 2–5 p.m. at the church.

If you’re working, alone or just don’t want to cook, bring your family and friends. It’s our way of saying thanks for being able to serve our community.

Call (423) 505-4726 for more information. Donations accepted but are not required.

Transfer Station Work Schedule

The Dade County Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The facility will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m. for regular business hours.

Bus Service Starts Sunday

Greyhound bus service from Trenton to Chattanooga and Birmingham will begin as scheduled this Sunday, Alexandra Pedrini of Greyhound Lines confirmed by phone on Monday.

The current schedule calls for one round trip daily from Birmingham to Chattanooga and back again, stopping both ways in Trenton at Veterans Park in front of the courthouse, said Ms. Pedrini. The bus bound north to Chattanooga will pick up Trenton customers at 12:15 p.m., she said, then return, delivering passengers and picking up southbound riders on its way to Birmingham at 3:30 p.m.

Ms. Pedrini had earlier cited a $19 fare from Trenton to Chattanooga but on Monday again specified that prices depend upon a number of factors including when the trip is booked, and that keying in trips on each day of the week had netted her different price tags for each day of the week.

Prospective riders may try their own luck booking trips online at or by phone at (800) 231-2222.
