The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team returned to the court on Tuesday night in a non-region contest against the Gordon Lee Lady Trojans.

Both teams got off to slow starts and at the end of the first quarter the Lady Wolverines were on top 9-6.

The second quarter was much of the same as both teams struggled to score and at the end of the first half Dade still held a three point lead, 16-13.

That all changed in the third quarter as the Lady Wolverines fell behind by six points as they again only managed five points in the entire quarter and trailed 27-21.

While the Lady Wolverines found their shooting touch in the fourth quarter it was too little too late as the Lady Trojans rallied in the second half to claim a 46-36 win over Dade.

Marjorie Bonner led the Lady Wolverines with 10 points followed by Sarah Reid with eight and Haley Gass with six.

On Wednesday night the Lady Wolverines traveled to North Murray where they faced Coahulla Creek in a first round of the Alfa Insurance Mistletoe tournament.

The game turned out to be a defensive struggle as neither team had a hot shooting hand.

The Lady Wolverines held a one point lead after the first quarter 9-8 and the game was tied at the end of the first half 16-16.

In the second half Dade fell behind in the third quarter, 28-25 but the fourth quarter was all Lady Wolverines.

In the final eight minutes the Lady Wolverines held Coahulla Creek to only two points and pulled out an exciting 31-30 win.

Lauren Breeden led the Lady Wolverines with 11 points while Sarah Reid finished with five.

The Lady Wolverines were back at North Murray on Friday night. See next week’s Sentinel for details of that game.
