Brady Mia fires off a three point shot against the Trojans of Gordon Lee Tuesday night.

By: Robin Ford Wallace, Reporter

The Dade County High School Wolverine basketball team ended a three game losing streak at home on Tuesday night when they hosted the Gordon Lee Trojans.

Dade took charge of the game early and while the Trojans would rally from time to time the Wolverines always answered.

At the end of the first quarter the Wolverines held a four point lead, 19-15.

That changed quickly in the second quarter as the Wolverine’s hot shooting returned and they outscored the visiting Trojans 22-13 for a half time lead of 41-28.

The Trojans just wouldn’t go away in the second half and continued to battle and by the end of the third quarter had cut Dade’s lead to single digits, 61-52.

Gordon Lee would cut the lead to only three points in the fourth quarter but the Wolverines rallied and came away with a much needed 77-71 win. The win improved the Wolverines to 6-3 for the season.

Clynt Bell led the Wolverines with 32 points while Mikey Williams and Nic Gaddis added 12 points each. In addition to his 32 points Bell also had five steals and seven assists.

Warren Smith grabbed 10 rebounds while Nick Chitwood had nine rebounds and Reid Hulgan seven.

The Wolverines will be back in action Dec. 27-30 when they travel to Midway, Tenn., to participate in a tournament.
