Dade Middle School was evacuated Tuesday afternoon and the students and faculty moved to Dade High School after an employee of the school found what appeared to be a threat on the wall in a restroom.

The decision to evacuate came quickly and Superintendent Shawn Tobin was pleased with how well the entire process was carried out. In all 13 buses were used in the evacuation process.

Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross called in the Chattanooga Bomb Squad and the entire school was searched but nothing suspicious was found during the search.

“These things have to be taken seriously to ensure the safety of our kids.”  Sheriff Cross said. “We received the call and immediately acted to get the kids as far away from any potential danger as possible,” he added.

The investigation is on going but at press time no arrest had been made in connection with the threat.
