The Dade County Lady Wolverines played a couple of games last week in a Christmas Tournament at North Murray High School in Chatsworth.

After picking up a win early in the tournament the Lady Wolverines faced host North Murray in what turned out to be a thrilling game.

North Murray took the early lead and after the first quarter of play led the Lady Wolverines 10-7.

The Lady Wolverines fell further behind in the second quarter and by the end of the first half found themselves trailing 27-19.

That all started to change in the third quarter when the Lady Wolverines started their comeback.  By the end of the third quarter the Lady Wolverines had cut the North Murray lead to just 5 points, 35-30.

As they have all year, the Lady Wolverines never quit and with just seconds left in the game they held a one point lead.

A missed shot and a North Murray rebound with less than 10 seconds remaining sealed the Lady Wolverines fate as the host went the length of the court and scored the winning basket as time ran out.

The final score was 42-41.

Lauren Breeden led the Lady Wolverines with 13 points followed by 9 points from Tori Gass and 8 from Sarah Reid.

The Lady Wolverines final game of the tournament was against Sonoraville, one of the better AAA teams in North Georgia.

The Lady Wolverines managed to stay close for most of the game but ran out of gas late to fall to Sonoraville 46-26.

At the end of the first quarter the Lady Wolverines were down 11-8 and trailed 25-18 at the end of the first half.

Playing hard on both ends of the court the Lady Wolverines were still in the game at the end of the third quarter, trailing 35-26.

The fourth quarter was a total disaster as the Lady Wolverines couldn’t get any shot to fall and while they were going scoreless Sonoraville scored 11 points to put the game away 46-26.

Marjorie Bonner led the Lady Wolverines with 8 points while Lauren Breeden scored 5 and Tori Gass added 4.

The Lady Wolverines have a break for the Christmas Holidays and will resume play on Jan. 2 at home against Chattooga.
