LEON FANNIN

Walter Leon Fannin, 93, of Trenton, passed away December 27, 2013 at his home. He moved to Rising Fawn in 1947 where he owned a local grocery store.  He was a Veteran of the US Army WWII serving overseas during the European Theatre. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Commission where he served for many years. Mr. Fannin was an active member of Trenton United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent. 

He was preceded in death by Flora Fannin.

Surviving include wife Louise Fannin; sister, Mary Hartfield; one nephew; and a loving church family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Trenton United Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Trenton, GA 30752.

Funeral Services were held December 29, 2013 at Trenton United Methodist Church with Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating. 

Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

LAVANSON HAWLEY

Lavanson Charles “Chuck” Hawley, 63, of Trenton, passed away Dec. 20 at his residence. A native of Springfiled, Ill., he had spent several years in California and the past 30 years in the Trenton area. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheri Edwards Hawley.

Survivors include his sons, Andy and Scott Hawley; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Ralph Eide; step-children, Desiree Moore, David and Danny Lane; four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church at a time to be announced later.

BETTY LONGMORE

Betty “Nana Dudder” Longmore, 68, of Trenton, passed away Dec. 23.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth Lena Wallace; children, Joey and Janet Wyatt.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Randall Stone of Trenton, Wendy and Todd Monroe of Ala.; son, Michael Lamb; grandchildren, Brittany and Melissa Lamb, Alexis Stone, Leah Monore; great-grandchildren, Phoebe Monore, Bailey Hayes and J.P. Wallin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

JERRY PARNELL

Jerry M. Parnell, 81, of Rising Fawn, born July 3, 1932, passed away Dec. 24 at Hutcheson Medical Center from a brief illness. She was born and raised in East Carroll Parrish, La. She lived and traveled extensively in the United States and abroad with her husband. In her later years, she returned to East Carroll Parrish, La. to live with her mother in sister. In 1998 after the passing of her mother, she and her sister settled in Georgia on Lookout Mountain to be close to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Army Force Major James Daniel Parnell; parents, Early and Irene Murray; and sister, Carolyn Presley.

Survivors include her nephews and wives, Terry and Linda of Rising Fawn, Louis and Robin of Fort Worth, Texas, John of Spring Branch, Texas, and Robert and Gail of Elk Grove, Calif.; and many cousins.

Graveside services were held Dec. 29 at Cook-Walden Memorial Hills in Pflugerville, Texas.
