Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

By: Eddy Gifford, Publisher

Dade County received a Christmas present at the end of the year in the form of a check for $581,264.49.

The money was received from the bankruptcy settlement for back taxes on the Preserve development in Rising Fawn.

The Dade County Board of Education received $314,454.00 of the money while the County received $206,739.09 and the State of Georgia received $5,439.40.

The remainder of the money went for newspaper advertising, $7,137.00; tax sale fees, $30,400.00; lien releases, $7,095.00; and attorney fees and lien printing, $10,000.

This payment brought an end to a long legal battle to collect taxes owed to the county from the failed Rising Fawn development.
