The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team only got in one game last week thanks to Mother Nature.

Since there was no school on Tuesday due to the cold weather the Lady Wolverines game was canceled and they didn’t have a Friday game scheduled.

They did get to play on Saturday, a makeup game from last Saturday against the Chattooga Lady Indians.

The days off apparently had an effect on the Lady Wolverines as they struggled to score early in the game. After four minutes of play the Lady Wolverines trailed the visiting Lady Indians 4-0.

A pair of free throws by Jessica Vaughan put the Lady Wolverines on the board but they wouldn’t score again until one minute remained in the first quarter. Then a basket by Sarah Reid and one by Lauren Breeden tied the score 6-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The teams picked up the tempo in the second quarter and the Lady Wolverines ended the first half up by three points, 18-15.

The third quarter belonged to the Lady Wolverines as they dominated play and built a 10 point lead, 29-19, holding the Lady Indians to only four points.

The Lady Wolverines continued to dominate play in the fourth quarter and came away with a big Region 7AA win, 43-28.

Tori Gass led the Lady Wolverines with 13 points followed by Reid with 11 and Breeden with nine.
