Flat Rock, Ala., authorities file  child endangerment charges

A Dade County man was arrested last week in Flat Rock, Ala., after leaving his son in the car while he went hunting.

Brandon Mark Chambers, 29, of Trenton was charged with endangering a child and released from the Jackson County Jail in Scottsboro on a $500 bond.

Authorities said that Chambers left his five–year-old son in his car in the Flat Rock area of Sand Mountain for about two hours while he went hunting.

The child got cold and hit the vehicle's OnStar button, which alerted law enforcement officials.

When a deputy arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m., Chambers was just returning from hunting.

According to the deputy the car's thermometer registered 31 degrees.

The child was released into the custody of his stepmother.
