The Dade County Lady Wolverines had a busy week, playing three region games in five days with a very limited roster.

On Tuesday they traveled to Chatsworth to face the Murray County Lady Indians.

The Lady Wolverines always seem to struggle early and Tuesday was no exception as they managed only eight first quarter points. The good news was the Lady Indians managed only two.

Dade continued to build on their lead in the second quarter and by the end of the first half were up 18-7.

While Murray County tried to make it a game in the second half the Lady Wolverines fought off every challenge and came away with a 42-31 win.

Sarah Reid led the Lady Wolverines with 14 points followed by Tori Gass and Lauren Breeden with nine points each.

On Friday the Lady Wolverines hosted the Armuchee Lady Indians, a team they had beaten in Rome early in the season. This game was much like the earlier meeting as the two teams got off to a slow start but picked up the pace as the game went along.

At the end of the first quarter Dade was up 9-6 as both teams had trouble hitting their shots.

The action picked up in the second quarter and by the end of the first half the Lady Wolverines found themselves trailing by one, 21-20.

The game went back and forth and at the end of the third quarter Murray was up 36-33.

Dade fought hard in the fourth quarter but were never able to overtake the Lady Indians and came out on the short end of the 50-43 score.

Hailey Gass led the Lady Wolverines with 11 points followed by Tori Gass with 10 points.

Pepperell’s Lady Dragon came to town Saturday for a game that originally been scheduled for Jan. 7 but had to be postponed due to weather.

As in the previous two games both teams got off to slow starts and at the end of the first quarter the Lady Wolverines were down 8-7.

Dade fought hard in the second quarter and by the end of the first half took a three point lead on the Lady Dragons, 18-15.

The third quarter looked a lot like the first as the two teams couldn’t buy a basket.

When the third quarter ended the Lady Wolverines still held their three point lead, 24-21. The two teams scored a total of 12 points in the third quarter.

The game opened up in the fourth quarter however but didn’t turn out too well for the Lady Wolverines.

Pepperell matched their three quarter score in the fourth by scoring 21 points while holding Dade to just 11 and claiming a 42-35 win over the host.

Reid led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points while Marjorie Bonner added 11.

As the season winds down every game is important for tournament seeding and the Lady Wolverines face a big test Friday when they travel to Model and face the Lady Blue Devils. Game time is 7 p.m.
