GBI investigating Trenton Police Department officer

Trenton police officer Shawn Chapa has resigned his position with his department following allegations of theft.

In a press release issued by Trenton Mayor Anthony Emanuel he states that Police Chief Roger Castleberry acted on information received from a citizen and conducted a preliminary investigation that has led to police officer Shawn Chapa resigning his position with the department.

Chapa’s resignation results from charges having been booked against him for violation of his Oath of Office and theft by taking of drugs from the Trenton Police Department’s evidence room.

Chapa was booked and released on bond pending future investigation into these charges by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Trenton Police Department.

The GBI is leading the investigation at the request of City of Trenton officials.
