uses a Joe Myers’ story to illustrate that everyone who wants to fully
contribute needs a helper. Joe’s wife, Sara, handed him back an essay she had
edited for him. Instead of being thankful for her help, all he could see was
red. There were red marks on nearly every page indicating that she was
suggesting some attention be given to some wording. To Joe very page seemed to
be dripping in blood. As he tried to find one pure white page, she said these
words: “Joe, this is fantastic! This is one of the best things I have ever
read! This is going to change people’s lives.”
kidding, you hate it.”
“No, I love it.
“But look at
all the red. You hate it.”
“Joe, I love
you. I just want you to get your ideas out as powerfully as you can. Every time
you see red on the page, I want you to hear me saying to you, ‘Joe, I love you,
and I want the whole world to read this book.’”*
Biblical Insight: Jesus said, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind
you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
