Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

Lamar Lowery

My name is Lamar Lowery and I am announcing my intention to run for Commissioner of District I.  I previously served as District I Commissioner for eight years. I stand proudly on my record of having never voted for a property tax increase. I am one of the five commissioners who voted for the senior tax exemption to be put on the ballot to let the citizens decide. I was sad to see the recent class warfare over the senior exemption but the truth is, since 2003 the state has cut $12 million dollars of Dade County’s school funding which is exactly the amount the school system says they are short. So if we’re gonna have a war let’s be sure we have the right enemy.

I was one of the five commissioners who voted to defend a citizen’s lawsuit to stop HB818 and HB819, which we won. These bills allowed homeowners to freeze their home values at their current value. These bills have stopped backdoor tax increases that happened on a regular basis in Dade County.

The Primary election will be May 20, all elections are now county wide so you don’t have to live in District 1 to be able to vote for me as the District 1 Commissioner. I will stay conservative and keep you informed.

I can be reached at (423) 667-0038.

Your support and vote would be greatly appreciated.
