Dade's Luke Riddle slides into second as the LaFayette Rambler waits on the ball.

By: Eddy Gifford, Publisher

The Dade County High School baseball team got a chance at revenge on Wednesday of last week when the LaFayette Ramblers came to town.

The Wolverines dropped their first game of the season to the Ramblers a week earlier by a score of 6-2.

The Wolverines wasted little time as they put two runners on base in the first inning only to see the LaFayette get out of the inning without a score.

The second inning was better for the Wolverines as they scored four runs with big hits coming from Luke Riddle and Nic Gaddis as they doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Josh Core was dominating on the mound for Dade as he only gave up a pair of hits over four innings while striking out five and not allowing a run.

The Ramblers would get back in the game in the top of the sixth inning when they scored a pair of runs to cut the Wolverine lead to 5-2.

Dade responded in the bottom of the sixth with four more runs, picking up three of them on a bases loaded double by Garrett Moore.

Riddle had three hits in the game and a pair of RBI’s.

The Wolverines have a busy week this week as region play began on Tuesday afternoon against Calhoun.

On Thursday the Wolverines will travel to Summerville to face the Chattooga Indians in another region game with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday Dade will be playing in the South Pittsburg Classic in South Pittsburg, Tenn. On Friday afternoon Dade will face Silverdale Baptist School at 5 p.m. and then face Hixson at 9 p.m. The Wolverines will then face South Pittsburg at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

Dade will return home March 18th to host the Pepperell Dragons in another region game with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
