Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

By: Eddy Gifford, Publisher

Dade County District 3 Commissioner Robert Goff resigned last Friday in order for him to seek the State Representative District 1 seat that is currently held by Lookout Mountain resident John Deffenbaugh.

In his resignation letter Goff stated, “I wish to tell the people of District 3, the people of Dade County and the other seated Commissioners, what a privilege it has been to serve them, and to serve with them. I have never treated anyone with any favor, regardless of their political preference or geographical location in the County. I have fulfilled my one and only campaign promise, to do the best job I can for the people of Dade County.”

Goff added, “I have been blessed to have the opportunity to serve in some of the most trying times in our County’s history. I have seen the best of people in the midst of great hardship and will forever be grateful for what I have learned in these times. May God bless my successor as he has blessed me, and may he or she work with the other commissioners, and employees of Dade County to serve the people to the best of their ability?”

Details of when the election will be held to fill the vacated spot will be confirmed soon but the election will probably coincide with the November elections.
