Sheriff’s officers conducted a raid at a Poplar Springs Road residence last
week and confiscated several automatic weapons.
The warrant was
obtained after the Sheriff’s Department received a tip that automatic weapons
were located at the residence. An initial search didn’t find the weapons but “a
lot of ammunition and some drugs were found,” Sheriff Ray Cross said.
transported to the Dade County Jail were Justin Charles Smith, 31, and his
wife, Misty Michelle Hodges, 32.
was charged with possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, and released on
$1,000 bond, Smith remains in jail charged with possession of Roxy-codone and
possession of a controlled substance, Schedule II.

the automatic weapons.
Smith, who is a
convicted felon, will face additional charges relating to the automatic

have them as a convicted felon.
Also, last week
the Dade County Sheriff’s Department recovered a large generator that was taken
from a business at the foot of Sand Mountain.
was found at a residence on Sand Mountain and Wesley Carl Derryberry, Sr., was
arrested on charges of felony theft by taking.
He has since
been released from the Dade County jail on $2,500 bond.
