At the regular
meeting of the Dade County Board of Education on Monday night the Board
approved the school calendar for the 2014-2015 school year.
The number of
instructional days has been increased from 168 to 171 and school will start on
August 20, 2014 for students and teachers will report on August 15, 2014. The grading period will also be going back to a nine week schedule instead of the six week schedule currently being used.
The last day of
school for students will be on May 22, 2015.
There will be no
school on October 10 (Friday) and 13 (Monday) giving students a long weekend for fall break.
School will be
out the week of Thanksgiving and will also be out 2 weeks for Christmas break,
December 22 thru January 2nd. Students will return to school on
Monday January 5.
will be March 30 thru April 3.
The increase in
instructional days is due in part to additional funding from the State of
Georgia for the first time in several years.
