Jennifer Hartline has announced her intentions to run for the Dade County School Board, District 2 seat. Her announcement reads as follows:
A majority of Georgia’s budget is devoted to education; however, this has placed continuing oversight on our teachers making their jobs increasingly difficult. As this oversight continues, it is imperative that our local board make our teachers’ jobs more efficient, supplying them with more of the resources they need and less of the oversight.
It is the responsibility of the school board to be diligent in questioning and understanding every policy before it is passed. Unfortunately, the board has earned a reputation of never veering far from the status quo.
Those seeking pro-athletic or pro-academic policy should not divide our local board. Instead, our local board should focus on providing the opportunities that assist in developing a student’s character and competence after graduation. Since graduating Dade County High School in 2002, my life experiences as a mother, realtor, and investment trainer/coach/mentor have given me a unique perspective of the importance of pre K-12 education.
Public education has helped in giving me the tools for a successful life, just as it has so many others. In order to make sure our school system has all the tools necessary for the next generation, I have decided to submit my bid for a seat on the school board. It is my intentions to bring a unique balance to the board. As a business owner, I understand the burden of higher taxes; an as a parent to two students, I understand the importance of teachers’ and students’ goals.
If you believe that the success of our kids is more important than the arbitrary goals of a select few, I ask for your support and vote on May 20th.
