The Dade County Board of Education was scheduled to hold its monthly work session and special called meeting on Monday night.

Due to the Sentinel early deadlines a full report of the meeting will be in next week’s Sentinel.

A full agenda was on tap for the 5 p.m. meeting and those items included information from Doug Eza on the FY15 budget.

A large number of discussion items were on the agenda as well including fuel bids, tobacco polices for students and employees as well.

Fleet Insurance, copier contracts and bids for Chrome books were also up for discussion. Updates will also be given on flood insurance.

The Board will also be discussing the installation of a traffic light at the entrance of the high school that was first mentioned at the recent Dade County Commissioners meeting.

Interim Superintendent Cherie Swader was to give reports on the master calendar and transition days as well as retirement receptions at each school.

The upcoming testing schedule was also on the agenda as well as numerous other items that were to be discussed for voting at next week’s regularly scheduled meeting.

See next week’s Sentinel for a full report on the meeting.
