George Wayne Eakin, 85, of Lookout Mtn., passed away May 16 after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Wydean Eakin; daughters, Belinda Eakin, Darlene Behre; and brother, Raymond Eakin.

Survivors include his son-in-law, Michael Behre; brother, Melvin Eakin; sisters, Hazel Baugh, Tot Short; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held May 17 at Griffin Cemetery on Lookout Mtn.

Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.



Ival Lean Hutcheson Hill, 92, of Bryant, Ala., passed away May 14, 2014. She was an avid gardener and housewife. Mrs. Hill was a member of Bryant Free Home Holiness Church.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Hill; children, Leonard Hill, Jr. and Donald Ray Hill and parents, John and Ollie Hutcheson.

Survivors include her daughter Pearl (Lynn Atkinson) Hill, Bryant, Ala.; Wayne Hill, Bryant, Ala.; and Ricky (Cindy) Hill, Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Rita (Leo) Bomian and Lucy (Orban) Atchley; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were May 16 at Bryant Free Home Holiness Church with Bro. Kenneth Hill, Bro. Shirley Byrum, and Bro. Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

James R. Spencley, 59, of Gaylord, Mich., formerly of Trenton, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014. He was the son of Louis and Doris (Spencley) Dann. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Mr. Spencley lived in Trenton for many years before moving to Gaylord last year. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Dann. 

Survivors include his son, James C. Spencley and his former wife, Christine Westbrook, both of Rising Fawn and Norman, Okla.; his father, Louis Dann of Gaylord, Mich.; sisters, Lori (Michael) Hawkins of Detroit, Mich., and Andrea (Phillip) Corkins of Gaylord Mich.; brothers, Louis Dann of Fairborn, Ohio and Larry (Carrie) Dann of Altus, Okla.; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial services was held May 15 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home, Gaylord, Mich. Interment was in Bliss Township Cemetery. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to The American Legion.

Martha Kathryn Vaughn, 84, of Bryant, Ala., passed away May 13. She was a member of Glendale Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lee Vaughn; father, Herschel Poe; mother, Mary Ellen Poe; aunt, Bertha Rorex; step-mother, Willie Poe; son, Thomas Vaughn; sister, Betty Jo Cooper; brothers, Bill Poe, Jimmy Carl Poe, Donnie Poe, Tommy Rorex and Elmore Rorex.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy and Ronnie Norris of Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Polly and Danny Estep Of Puquay Varina, N.C.; Bobbie Lecour of Aurora, Ill., June and J.B. Hagan of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, David and Brenda Poe of Stevenson, Ala., Tommy and Ruby Poe of New Hope, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brian Williams, Brent Norris, Lauren and Justin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Camren Williams, Kieara Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held May 16 at Glendale Church of Christ with Minister Daryl Haynes officiating.

Interment was in Glendale Cemetery.

Dorothy Wierth, 96, of Trenton, passed away May 15, 2014. Mrs. Wierth was a homemaker and was a member of the Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic Church and a member of The Ladies of Charity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Wierth; son, Dennis Wierth and daughter, Lynne Steffen.

Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne (Fred) Pittman, Trenton; son, Mark (Diane) Wierth, New Berlin, Wis.; sister, Valeria “Val” Nethery, Trenton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was May 19 at Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic Church with Father Thomas Schuler officiating.
