The Dade County Board of Education held a Special Called Meeting May 22 for personnel.

The Board immediately went into executive session.

After the brief session board member Johnny Warren made a motion that Interim Superintendent Cherie Swader was the sole finalist for the job of Dade County School Superintendent.

The Board is required to announce the finalist for the job before hiring and can name up to three candidates.

Board members Warren, Cindy Shaw, Jeff Forester and Chairperson Carolyn Bradford voted in favor of the motion.

Board Member David Powell was unable to attend the meeting.

In other personnel action the Board approved the retirement of Vanessa Kinsey.

Board members confirmed after the meeting that the official hiring of Swader would take place at the June meeting of the Board.
