take some things for granted. I recently thought about the many who have
difficultly in breathing. I then realized how precious it is to breathe. I took
a deep breath and said, “Thank You Lord.”
says, “Take a deep breath.” Well, take a deep breath and realize breath means
life. “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Gen.2:7).
As a newborn
babe, you started life with a gasp for breath, and your life will end with a
final gasp for breath. Life begins and ends with a gasp for breath.
What if God
stopped your breath for only a few minutes? When breath ceases life ceases.
“All things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and
by him all things consist” (Col.1:16-17).
told God, “We no longer need you. We can now make man.” God told them to go
ahead and do it. The scientists began to scoop some dirt into a mound as God
said, “Get your own dirt!” Take a deep breath!
It is amazing
that breathing is such a naturally unconscious thing to do. You have inhaled
and exhaled all your life without even thinking about it. Your breath means
life. You have another day. In an average day, you breathe 23,040 times and you
inhale 438 cubic feet of air. Your heart beats 103,689 times.
reads, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous
are thy works.” As I took a deep breath, for the first time, I realized that I
could not talk as I inhaled. As I talked I then put my hand before my mouth and
felt the exhaling of breath. I could only talk as I exhaled. Try it! It is
amazing! I had never thought about breathing and talking at the same time.
Take a deep
breath, and then be thankful as you take another, and then another. As long as
you have breath you have life and hope. Take another deep breath! Realize there
could be just a breath between you and death. Know that after your last gasp of
breath, you will either be with the Lord or without the Lord (II Cor. 5:8).
Take a deep
breath and realize you still have time to receive Christ (John 1:12). Take a
deep breath. You still have life so make the days ahead the best you have ever
known. Do you have breath? If so, then you should praise the Lord. “Let every
thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD” (Psa. 150:6).
Inhale with a
deep breath, then as you exhale praise the Lord. Then take another deep breath,
and do it again and again! Take another deep breath. As long as you have
breath, you have life, so enjoy it. Take another deep breath and be thankful
you can do it!
