Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

 
Scenic Hwy. Drowning

According to the Dade County Sheriff’s Department a 72–year–old man drown in a pond at a residence on Scenic Highway Sunday afternoon.

Dade County Deputy Coroner Chip Geddie said the victim, James Hedges, was at a family gathering when some of those present decided to go swimming. Hodges never surfaced after going into the water.

The preliminary investigation indicates the drowning was accidental.

The investigation is ongoing.

Early Voting Ends Friday

Dade residents can still take advantage of early voting.

The Elections Office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. for anyone wanting to cast his or her ballot in the Run–Off Election.  Early voting ends Friday.

As of Monday morning 353 votes had been cast during the early voting period.

The Run–Off Election is July 22.

Pork In The Park

Grace Community Trenton will host “Pickin ‘n Pork in the Park” at Jenkins Park July 19 from 5–8 p.m.

The local bluegrass band The Dade County Boys will be performing on the stage from 6:30­–7:30 p.m. Free barbecue and drinks will be provided. Bring a chair to enjoy the entertainment.

Organizational Meeting

There will be an organizational meeting for Payne Cemetery, located on top of the hill at Lake Hills Cemetery.

The meeting will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Dade County Chamber of Commerce’s office, located at 111 Railway Lane in Trenton. Officers will be elected at this time.
