Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

Justin Chain, former contestant on "The Voice" headlines the entertainment line up for Dade Days. The day's entertainment will begin at 10:30 a.m., with Chain taking the stage from 8-10 p.m.
Dade Days is almost here!

This Saturday, Aug. 2nd, citizens of Dade County and its surrounding region will gather on the Courthouse Square to celebrate the community and its history.

A pet pageant will kick the day off at 10 a.m., followed by a continued stream of entertainment, performing until dark.

Justin Chain, former contestant on NBC’s reality show, The Voice, will close out the evening when he takes the stage at 8 p.m.

The entertainment schedule is as follows: 10:30-11 a.m., David Bolling; 11–11:30 a.m., Inverted Athletics; 12–12:30 p.m., Faithful; 1–1:30 p.m., Brian Henry; 2–2:30 p.m., Misti Phillips; 3–4 p.m.,  AOK; 4:30–5:30 p.m., Dade County Boys; 6–6:20 p.m., Emma Scott; 6:30–7:30 p.m., Rock Skool and from 8–10 p.m., Justin Chain.

Citizens will also have a chance to “dunk” various community members in the dunk tank. Alan Bradford will be in the tank at 1 p.m.; James Cantrell, 1:30; Reed Hulgan, 2:30 p.m.; Alan Marsh, 3 p.m.; Reese Fauscett, 3:30 p.m.; Ronnie Hunt, 4 p.m.; Monda Wooten, 4:30 p.m.; Jonathan Gann, 5 p.m. and Ted Rumley at 5:30 p.m.

Approximately 50 vendors have signed up to participate at Dade Days with more additions expected by week’s end.

Marvin Croft will be cooking his famous barbecue, Festival of Life organizers will be selling ice cream, the Riddle family will have cotton candy, boiled peanuts and funnel cakes, there will be hair bows, jewelry, information booths and more.

Members of the Dade County Historical Society will be scanning historical photos on Saturday. If you have a photo of any historical building or person from Dade County please bring it to the Dade County Library between noon and 4 p.m., on Saturday

The Historical Society is compiling a file of photos that will used in the Local History and Genealogy Room at the library. If you want additional copies for yourself, bring a flash drive to save the scans. The scanning is free.

The Dade County Library will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. All regular library services will be available and the public is welcome to use the library's computers and restrooms.

Friends of the Library will be selling chances on a $100 bill for $1 a chance, as well as having a book sale. Some new paperbacks will be sold for $1 and some used books will be 50¢ each.

The Chamber's annual Duck Race will also be Saturday.

The Chamber is eager to see the community turn out on Saturday for a wonderful day. Please join the Chamber on the Courthouse Square for an unforgettable Dade Days!
