Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

Dade's shortstop, Carri Pierce, tags out the runner at second as Sidney Poston looks on. Dade opened the 2014 softball season last Saturday against Dalton High School.
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team opened the 2014 season last Saturday when they hosted Dalton High School.

While school is still over a week away the Lady Wolverines are playing and will have four or five games under their belt by the time school begins.

The Lady Wolverines have had to replace all but two starters from last year and opened with a tough Lady Catamount team.

As the two teams traded runs early the visitors took a 4-1 led late in the game but the Lady Wolverines battled back and ending up falling 5-3.

Coach Christine Core Engbers said, “It was encouraging that our girls fought hard until the end and had several chances to win against strong competition. They are improving with every game.”

The Lady Wolverines were led by Carri Pierce with a pair of hits, one a double; Haley Keesler had a hit and RBI while scoring one run and Morgan Lacy had a double and two RBI’s.

Carly Stephens had a pair of stolen bases and scored twice for the Lady Wolverines.

The Lady Wolverines were scheduled to travel to LaFayette on Monday and then play in the LFO Invitational this weekend.

The Lady Wolverines next home game will be on Aug. 21 against Chattooga.
