Political Debates

Cecil Gravitt

"Food For The Soul Luncheon," formally known as the Business Mens Luncheon, will be Friday at noon at Trenton United Methodist Church. Pastor Cecil Gravitt will be the guest speaker.

The church leadership has decided to invite women as well as men to the quarterly luncheon.

Pastor Cecil Gravitt has been a vital part of the Chattanooga area community for many decades. He met and married his wife Susan here in 1970.  Together they have three children and three grandchildren.

“Pastor Cecil” served as a paratrooper in the United States Army, after which he studied for two years at the McKenzie Business College. Following his college years he established, from the ground up, Cecil C. Gravitt Construction Inc.; a thriving business, specializing in land development and custom home building that continues to this day.

During his early years he served as elder, and board member for various churches and community ministries in the area. In the early 1990’s Pastor Cecil converted his then mechanic shop to a church, which later grew to a new location and continues today as Lookout Mountain Assembly of God.

His second church plant took place in the late 1990’s when, in the newly remodeled shop, Grace Community Church was founded. Pastor Cecil served as the senior pastor of Grace Community Church for 14 years, and saw many marvelous and miraculous things occur within the ministries there. Under his leadership, Grace Community Church ministered to Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda Africa, Israel and the Palestinian communities as well as David Wilkerson’ World Challenge.

Perhaps one of the most memorable ways both he and his congregation served the community was the outreach and mercy mission during the aftermath of the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. Pastor Cecil was a key figure in coordinating and distributing donated funds, services, and directing relief efforts with local emergency services, American Red Cross and FEMA to meet the needs of the community and surrounding areas.

Recently Pastor Cecil has stepped down from the senior pastorate, and was instrumental in the congregation joining the Assemblies of God, and continuing to grow under new leadership. Pastor Cecil now serves and works along side other pastors seeking the Lord for true revival to sweep our nation, and for lives to be changed by the undeniable power of Jesus Christ.
